7 Self-Care Tips for Busy Boss Moms: Achieving Success as a Female Entrepreneur

This blog post is a self-help guide on self-care for busy boss moms who have been successful in the corporate world, want their own business, and take care of a family, whether married or single. Female entrepreneurs can achieve success while balancing work with family life. As a working mom, self-care is sometimes the last thing on your mind. Working full-time in an office job and then coming home to take care of family needs and working on your business can be exhausting. I have found that when you are selfless with yourself, it does not come back around as selflessness.

Here are seven self-care tips for busy boss moms who want to achieve success as female entrepreneurs!

  1. Prioritize self-care. Make time for yourself, whether it is going to the spa or just taking a moment to rest and relax in your bed before you get up with the kids again. It will be worth all of the extra effort!
  2. Get outside as much as possible, even if that means only for a 20 minute walk to clear your mind. I get up early in the morning, around 6 am, to do my devotion and then go for a 1 hour walk, listen to uplifting podcast episodes or a sermon from either TD Jakes or Kimberly Jones, aka Real Talk Kim.
  3. Get a massage. Commit to getting one every other month to keep your body feeling good and relaxed. I recently went for a spa day with a friend of mine at the Sojo Spa Club. It feels nice after working long hours on the computer for weeks at a time to get a Massage
  4. Drastically reduce or eliminate caffeine intake from social media during business hours if possible; limit screen times before bedtime.
  5. Schedule self-care into your routine: set out specific times each week or day where there are no distractions (e.g., work phone off) when spending quality time with yourself--It allows you to decompress so that you do not lose your mind with all the craziness that goes on in self-care.
  6. Stay active and have diverse interests, whether it is reading, shooting hoops, playing board games, working out, etc.--This helps break the monotony of the same day-to-day routine of sitting at your desk or simply not getting some exercise. It keeps the brain sharp too!
  7. Get enough sleep, drink lots and lots of water, eat healthily--We need this for our brain and body just as much as we do for others!

Take care of yourself in these ways because you deserve it! You can't expect others to do that for you, especially if they don't know what is best. The most important thing we want from self-care is self-love, so give yourself some love and take care of yourself well!

Take care of yourself as much--if not more so!--than you take care of others!

You can make sure that you are giving your self-care by starting with a gratitude journal. Gratitude Journaling helps us be grateful for what we have in life. This will help release negative feelings or thoughts, which causes more stress on the mind and increases negativity. It also allows us to appreciate things from one day to another so that it does not seem like the only good days were yesterday, while today seems terrible because something went wrong to make it seem that way.

The self-care tips are to make sure we take care of ourselves as much as possible and not neglect our needs to put our job, business, and everyone else's first, which will cause us exhaustion in mind, body, and spirit.

As Christian women, God wants us to take care of our body and mind -- our temple.

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Matthew 22:37 NKJV

Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."

Romans 12:2 NKJV

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
