Setting goals is the first step in achieving them. It helps us to make a concentrated effort in obtaining the desired outcome. As children, when we set goals for ourselves, it was easy to do because it didn?t require much time or effort, but as adults, these goals are often too broad or impossible to accomplish. Ultimately, goal setting is about finding your purpose and aligning your life with it.

There is a range of goal-setting strategies that can be used to help you figure out the best method for you. The SMART strategy is the acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound. It suggests that your goal should be based on a specific realizable outcome; it should be measurable so you can track your progress; it should be achievable and realistic; and lastly, it should have a time-limit.
